06:44 pm - My cat wants a shotgun of his own for rabbit-hunting

It's a very nice Remington 1100 12ga shotgun with side-saddle, extended charging handle, tritium front sight and a ghost ring, light and extended tube. Unfortunately, I can't justify buying it for myself.

This weapon was built by a cop friend who now carries an AR15 and can't fire the 12ga due to a shoulder injury. So the shotgun is surplus to him. AFAIK, he put about 1,500 into the build -- he's asking $900 for it. Buy it so I don't have to explain to the cat why he won't get it from me for Christmas.

12:12 pm - EW: coming tomorrow list

well..the top two are done. the other two I've decided not to bother with.
In other news of the morning I went out the door to get the tickets and got a call asking if I'd grabbed my dad's pills off the counter...to which I responded..No. seems like the dog ate em.
*headdesk, headdesk, headdesk* stupid sister! I told her not to worry about giving dad those pills til AFTER he'd eaten breakfast..so there was no reason for those pills to be out already! *headdesk* I figured that sis would find them on the floor so I went on my merry way and hung up on her..annoyed. Called a lil bit later and nope..didn't find the pills so the dog had to have eaten em. Sigh......the pills in question are for my dad's diabetes. had to give the dog some kero syrup soaked biscuits when I got home since it was waaay to late to get her to puke em up. 2 of the pills drop blood sugar so...hence the kero.

I don't have a family..I have a re incarnation of the keystone cops in the middle of a badly run 3 ring circus and I am NOT amused at the moment.
Calmer than I was earlier when all this happened but still..unamused.

11:47 pm - coming tomorrow

Ahh..tomorrow.
tomorrow I get to call a doctors office brighteyed and bushy tailed early in the morning to give them the info they need for workers comp, so we can get my dad in for an appointment.
I also have to go get tickets for a concert in april.
depending on the weather and the way my pops is feeling I need to at least cut the backyard.
If it's dry enough I also need to change the oil on the blazer.

just 4 of many little tidbits I need to deal with manana.

10:59 am - My friend Albert and his wife Janie came to visit from Nevada

Turns out that clothes-swapping isn't just for girls. Albert here is wearing my vest and LBV. Since he is left-handed, he appreciated the forward ejection and ambidextrous controls of the RFB.

02:49 pm - Sniper babes were being discussed at Breda's...

I think some people are confused about the concept of sniper babes. The ladies you can see up close are snipper babes. Somewhat like mohels, but less precise and more enthusiastic.

Sniper babes, on the other hand, are not much seen and usually heard only a second or two after the bullet impact. They are so hard to see in their natural habitats that they come equipped with their own spotters. Possibly as a training oversight, sniper babe spotters don't help you find the babes might range the bridge of your nose for their partners instead.

A high resolution update of an older poster.

Trivia: the rifle is an Israeli Mauser in 308. Both photos were taken with 5D2 and with LX3 and the latter used because they resembled old-time photos more.

04:45 pm - Finally fired PMR30 today.

Had time to shoot only one box of Winchester Dynapoints (45gr) today. At 15m, it was trivially easy to hit clays with every shot. The trigger is great, the sights are bright and clear, the recoil is minimal. Follow-up shots are very fast, in part thanks to the short trigger re-set. I did not see any muzzle flash in daylight. I have not had the time to zero the daylight visible laser, that's happening the next range trip.

Also shot a Glock 19 with diamond SpeedSights. In daytime, target acquisition was about twice as fast as with the three-dot night sights on my G17. Precision seemed enhanced -- I had 100% hits on clays at 15m. I shot the pyramid-sighted Steyr M40 today also and that one was as precise, if a little slower to acquire.

I've been there, done that, you go get the tshirt,

PMR-30 is a very definite win for people with limited hand or arm strength or sensitive joints.

We also shot 600-700 rounds of subsonic .22 through a P22 with AAC Pilot suppressor. A few failures to feed and several misfired with Remington subsonics, none with CCI subsonics. I recommend CCI. Suppressed P22 is great for teaching newbies. Being able to talk in conversational voice and not develop a flinch. One of the newbies also shot Glock 17 with AAC Evo9 can. With 115gr subsonics, it had almost no perceptible recoil.

04:20 pm - The joys of machine translation

08:35 am - LX-3 observations

f2-2.8 lens instead of 2.8-5.8 as typical of such cameras means that I usually run ISO80 when then others are at ISO160-400.

Being able to pre-set most of the settings before turning on the camera is very helpful. Physical switches instead of menus are great.

Multiple aspect ratios seemed like a gimmick but I really like them.

AF, esp. with focus assist light as needed, has been quite reliably. Still learning about the various focus modes.

The camera is suprisingly useful, especially when it comes to making visual notes or imitating old film cameras.
